Dr. Taylor C. Nelson, Au.D., CCC-A

Meet Dr. Taylor C. Nelson

Founder & Lead Audiologist of Harbor Hearing Conservation

Dr. Taylor has worked in clinical Audiology since 2016, serving in several different roles along the way. In 2017, she earned her Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from University of Minnesota – Duluth. She finished her education at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where she earned her Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences in 2020 and her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree in 2021. Dr. Taylor completed her externship at a VA Medical Center in Michigan. She was then hired to stay on as an Audiologist after graduation, which was the catalyst for a long-term career with the Veterans Health Administration. Dr. Taylor continues to work for a VA outreach clinic in Wisconsin as a Staff Audiologist, and she is an Adjunct Assistant Professor for a public university in Michigan, where she teaches the Introduction to Audiology course annually. Dr. Taylor is currently licensed to practice in Wisconsin and Michigan; she is making progress towards her Minnesota Audiologist license and hopes to have this in hand mid-summer of 2026. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

While an early career in clinical Audiology has provided excellent foundational experience, Dr. Taylor has always had a dream of specializing within the field. Hearing Conservation first became a special interest when she worked for the VA in Michigan. In addition to her clinical duties, she was involved in the VA's OSHA compliant hearing conservation program; she conducted audiometric testing for VHA engineering employees, monitored annual results for STS, and submitted mandatory paperwork to occupational health agents for the program. Upon transferring to her current VA location, she missed this aspect of her previous job and began searching for ways to get involved with preventative Audiology again.

Dr. Taylor founded Harbor Hearing Conservation in July of 2025. She is actively working to earn her Course Director certification through the Council of Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) and looks forward to offering CAOHC training courses in the very near future. Above all, Dr. Taylor is most excited to announce that she is a CAOHC Certified Professional Supervisor of the Audiometric Monitoring Program (CPS/A) and has been providing these services since late-summer of 2025.

In her free time, Dr. Taylor enjoys working on home improvement projects with her fiancé and training their energetic puppy, Benny.
