An STS is an average change of 10 dB or more at 2000, 3000, and 4000 Hz in either ear compared to a baseline audiogram. OSHA requires employers to identify and report STS in noise-exposed workers. We help determine work-relatedness using a modified Employee Hearing History Questionnaire (EHHQ).
Custom Products
Dr. Taylor will take an impression of your ear canal and external ear using two-part, medical-grade silicone. These impressions are used to manufacture custom-fit hearing protection products. The cost is $55 per ear, plus an order processing fee and applicable taxes.
Yes. All custom hearing protection products require earmold impressions for manufacturing. One set of impressions can sometimes be used for multiple products ordered at the same time — contact us to discuss.
If your custom product doesn't fit to our standard, a new impression will be covered at no cost by Harbor Hearing.
We offer products from Westone and SoundGear, including hearing protection for hunters, concert-goers, motorsports enthusiasts, swimmers, and light sleepers, as well as electronic hearing protection with communication integration. Visit our Custom Products page to browse the full lineup.
Fit testing is recommended to verify that your custom device is providing the expected level of noise protection. It is optional but strongly encouraged, especially for hearing protection used in high-noise environments.
